Striking Memphis Sanitation workers in 1968 were making between $1.60 to $1.90 per hour. $1.90 per hour would be equivalent to $13.98 per hour in 2018. They were striking due to low and unequal wages and working conditions. While in Memphis in support of the workers, MLK was killed April 4, 1968. So what is a living wage today?
